Comics&Yoga It's the best happysad music I ever heard, heart wrenching and uplifting at the same time. Probably a great car stereo album as well, though I don't own a car anymore, so it's just a strong heartfelt hunch :-)
Summing up: Quite the highly recommended listening experience!

New Indie Audiophile I'm a huge fan of folk rock and this album is as good a folk rock album as any I've heard. Excellent musicianship and arrangement. Favorite track: Dark Banjo.

Algonquin 03:16
Got your scene in my jeans In a pose stuck out of time And my plain looks are not enough, though I’m only home to settle up And I’m setting it off and I’m riding off, to the road, So drive me slow… oh drive me slow Carrying on Now you haven’t left your soul But they made off with your bones And you notice the things you own When you notice you’re not home

Happy Banjo (free) 04:19
I like it up top, yeah On the salt in your skin I like it on top, yeah The space where you begin I’ve got one last plane ticket to the other side And I don’t know how, so high, but I’m so high But she likes it on top of me And I woke up here alone I feel so happy Alone I see you’re going to die today Yeah I said, I can see it One of us will see the light today Get extinguished I’ve got one last plane ticket to the other side And I don’t know how, so high, but I’m so high But she likes it on top of me And I woke up here alone I feel so happy alone

Smoke Lake 04:01
Heard your name And I called it, said it Time we changed Hearts more often Recently We sit silently And I watch the walls Beside your TV And I wait off in space Leave you staring straight As I float away like smoke Don’t know where it goes The ceiling I suppose And I leave you staring straight As I float away like smoke Don’t know where it goes Heard your name Echo from somewhere Somehow lost My ear for what sounds the same And I wait off in space Leave you staring straight As I float away like smoke Don’t know where it goes The ceiling I suppose And I leave you staring straight As I float away like smoke Don’t know where it goes Home, I left so long ago, wait for me Home, I left so long ago, wait for me Home, I left you long ago, wait for me

Finland 04:26
Wait stay still, I’ve found a way We stay lost here, Annie Wrote it all, sun sets, sinks, fallows out with the day that we made Under fog stars crawl out lost, little sparks that reach, only if you leave It seems so obvious Annie wait, I can still see the sun Annie wait, it’s almost gone
5.
Music Box 03:24
Don’t get up Don’t get off Don’t get anywhere but here Where we’re frozen I see your breath disappear Did they leave us here in this dream? Well I’ll rhyme myself to sleep Under the sheets We keep the beat Woke up – playing these songs I hear – so clear You woke me up – told me just stay here It’s not all, It’s not all Its not all I have I have not given enough. I had not listened through So now I do And you said you heard something That you lost Well I lost it too So we hear now with nothing to lose Like stars make shapes depending on your view

Lullaby 04:29
Close my eyes, haven’t slept in five days We’ll sleep when we’re dead again I said NO, I said I don’t wanna go, wanna go - Close my eyes, haven’t slept in five days - We’ll sleep when we’re dead

Acoustic 04:25
Picked you out Heard your name Told you mine In a scene someone frames And we’re made of paint And our colors smear Across the page Come here And we swirl and dance With the falling leaves And disguise ourselves In the orange, red, yellow autumn breeze. Can you see? I hope we dry slowly All we need Are these leaves Like two trees We don’t speak But I can tell you That I love you All we need Are these leaves Like two trees We don’t speak I can tell you That I love you

China 04:21
Seconds after I awake I can feel my dreams escape Try to stop them at the gate Time is real I’m always late There I see another sign All my friends can read my mind So tell me what I dreamt before All I wait for So late, you’re so late, I’m so late, I’m so late It’s not what’s there but only what you see, only Take us back to somewhere underneath, all of this You’re so late, I’m so late, I’m so late It’s not what’s there but only what you see, only Take us back to somewhere underneath, all of this

Dark Banjo 04:06
I wish thunder woke us up to storms Pouring over bodies breaking form. I wish thunder woke me up at dawn Rolling over only when you’re gone

The musical project of Dark Mean refuses to slip away for good. The collective has been quietly chipping away in their Hamilton, Ontario studio. Once again they have focused their spontaneous fits of inspiration, captured on phones and wired between Ottawa and Hamilton, into something concrete. ... more
